What can I do to help fight global warming?

There are many steps
you can take right now to cut
global warming pollution

Pulling out the electrical outlet such as television, mobile phone charger, when you are not using so you can save electric power consumption.

Drive less. When possible, choose alternatives to driving (public transit, biking, walking, carpooling), and bundle your errands together so you'll make fewer trips.

Bring your own fan. even the increasing only one degree of set temperature of air conditioner connects to the stopping global warming. In addition, staying in the very cold room is not good for your health.

Bring own shopping bag when you go to shopping. When you burn plastic bag, it will produce carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to warm up.

Bring your own chopstick when you go to the restaurants. Using a disposable chopstick sounds convenient. However, this is the symbol of MASS CONSUMPTION SOCIETY. When you have your own chopstick, you can use it many times.

What we (NGO) are Doing?

NGO Recommended Movie

NGO is doing great work not only on educating the public but on getting nuts-and-bolts reforms to favor wind farms, biofuels and smart grids. Also, it looks like these local/regional groups are increasingly cohering into a networked movement to create national change in the U.S. and Canada.

NGO Project - Warm Biz-

During winter 2005, there was talk on many of the major news networks of promoting a Warm Biz style for winter, suggesting that people wear heavy turtleneck shirts instead of a tie and collar.Warm Biz was notendorsed by the Japanese government, however, and the idea did not gather much support.

NGO project -Cool Biz-

The Japanese Ministry of the Environment (MOE) began advocating the Cool Biz campaign in summer 2005 as a means to help save energy by limiting air conditioning. According to the Environment Ministry, central government ministries were to set air conditioner temperatures at 28°C until September. The Cool Biz dress code advises workers to starch collars so they stand up and to wear trousers made from materials that breathe and absorb moisture.Additionally, workers are encouraged to wear short sleeved shirts without jackets or ties.

What benefits will Carbon Trading bring?

The benefits to the general community of trading emission reduction/offset certificates in a market include: the reduction in overall cost of meeting emission reduction targets, as mentioned above;
the progressively improved definition of a "price" for carbon, particularly as the market becomes more liquid and active, and assuming that all carbon certificate products are fungible, meaning that they are equivalent ways of addressing emission reduction;
the opportunity to generate income from activities that previously attracted no additional revenue, such as investment in emission reduction, renewable energy generation, greenhouse friendly fuels and carbon sequestration; the ability to use revenue from carbon sequestration to help fund additional planting of trees and other vegetation, for benefits such as salinity amelioration, biodiversity enhancement, conversion to greenhouse gas friendly fuels and energy, and employment and wealth creation in rural areas.

How is Carbon Trading undertake?

The simplest type of carbon trade involves an entity preparing a contract that describes and specifies the kind of activity they are undertaking to either reduce or offset emissions. The contract may or may not be independently verified, although doing so will increase buyer confidence and probably attract a higher price. This contractual commitment is then sold to another entity that wishes to make use of the specified amount of the reduction or offset. Contractual commitments are usually traded "over the counter" (OTC), which means that the trade is usually a bilateral one between a willing buyer and a willing seller without the need for a market to exist. OTC trades are usually single trades where the terms are either partially or fully confidential. OTC markets are relatively simple and operate where there is limited "liquidity" (that is, not many trades are occurring) or where the product being traded is somewhat unique for each trade.

Carbon Trading -What is Carbon Trading?-

In economic, carbon trading allows a country (developed countries) to use developing countries’s emission of carbon dioxide by investing in reforestation and clean energy in developing country.

What is the Kyoto agreement?

The Kyoto agreement is an agreement that the word made to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas by cutting its dependence of fossil fuels. The Kyoto agreement began in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 when world leaders, worried about predictions of global warming. Negotiators met in Kyoto, Japan, and agreed that annual amount of greenhouse gas in the period 2008 to 2012 should fall to 5.2 per cent which below then 1990 level.

Signed, refused, George W Bush
155 countries have signed the Kyoto agreement such as Germany, UK, Canada and Japan. George W bush refused to sign the Kyoto agreement because of the two reasons. One is that it would harm the United States economy by requiring very costly changes to manufacturing, transportation, and other aspects of business. Another reason is that India and China didn’t singed up the Kyoto Agreement where economic advancement is valued.

When Do You Send Greenhouse Gases into the Air?

Whenever you ...

・Watch TV
・Use the Air Conditioner
・Turn on a Light
・Use a Hair Dryer
・Ride in a Car
・Play a Video Game
・Listen to a Stereo
・Wash or Dry Clothes
・Use a Dish Washer
・Microwave a Meal

... you are helping to send greenhouse gas into the air.To perform many of these functions, you need to use electricity. Electricity comes from power plants. Most power plants use coal and oil to make electricity. Burning coal and oil produces greenhouse gases. Other things we do send greenhouse gases into the air too; The trash that we send to landfills produces a greenhouse gas called methane.Methane is also produced by the animals we raise for dairy and meat products and when we take coal out of the ground. Whenever we drive or ride in a car, we are adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. And, when factories make the things that we buy and use everyday, they too are sending greenhouse gases into the air.

What will happen if global warming continues? -3-

Want of Food
We will suffer from a want of food. The global warming will change the climate of the earth as never before. That means some places have more rainfall and the other places have lesser rainfall than before; therefore, the danger of flood damage and lack of water will be more seriousness. It will also affect the farming and the fishery a lot. The production of provision will extremely decrease and the change of current will cause a shortage of seafood. Many people who live in a poor country already starve to death. If the climate changes, they will be more hunted down. Besides that, Japan imports a lot of foods form other countries. If that countries are affected by flooding or drought and their productions of eating reduce, they will not sell provisions to Japan. We will not able to get enough foods if the global warming gets worse and we may scramble for them.

Enviromental Effect

Another effect is that many kinds of animals and plants will become extinct. In 1998, the temperature of sea all over the world rose remarkably; therefore, about 27% of coral in the world was dead (JCCCA). Also, white bears and penguins which live in the North and South Pole are tortured by global warming because the numbers of glaciers have decreased. All the animals are not able to survive with a severe change in the weather. If the global warming gets worse, some kinds of plants and animals become extinct because they can’t move to new homes by themselves which have better climate for them. Even they have abilities to fly, some of them will lose all means of escape; therefore number of them will reduce. After hundreds of years, the entire animals include human beings may disappear from the earth.

RISE OF SEA LEVEL

The most awful effect of global warming is a rise of sea level. Glaciers everywhere in the world include: North Pole and South Pole have been shrinking throughout the 20th Century. It was noted that in the Arctic, glacier is shrinking at a rate of 14,000 square miles annually (Eco Bridge). This could be a signal of rapid global warming. If glaciers melt, the sea level of the earth will rise. What does it occur when the seal level changes? The result is, all the islands around the world which have the low lands will sink in the ocean. Even the cities in Tokyo: Sumida and Edogawa Ward will be destroyed by the sea. People who live in that areas have nowhere to live. The earth will become a lack of place to live. In the future, we may have to build a house on the sea and use a boat for a vehicle instead of a car.

What are greenhouse gases and what is the greenhouse effect?

Greenhouse Effect

?×??×?

What causes global warming? Many scientists now believe that global warming is caused by human activities. Cutting down trees, producing more trash, and polluting the environment are some of the reasons that the temperature has gone up. Many scientists believe that the biggest causes of global warming are new human technologies that release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

What is the difference between climate and weather?

What is CLIMATE?? What is WEATHER??

What is the difference between climate and weather?Weather is the word that describes conditions in the atmosphere (such as temperature, precipitation, wind and cloudiness) at a specific time for a specific place. For example, when someone asks, "What's the weather like outside?" he or she wants to know what is going on in a certain area at that moment.

Climate is what you get when you summarize the weather for a long period of time. Even though California might have rainy weather one day, its average weather over the entire year is still dry and mild. Scientists who study global warming look at the big picture. They look at how rising temperatures will affect the earth's climate.

Inro.(What is Global Warming??)

“It’s so hot today!”

Earth has warmed by about 0.6 degrees over the past 100 years. You will notice that the weather has been changed when you compare it with that of ten years before.

As defined by Wikipedia, global warming is “the increases in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans that have been observed in recent decades”. Scientists are not exactly sure why and how global warming has been occurred. However they found out that global warming not only increases the average temperature, but also causes a lot of effects on the earth.

I can say that the global warming becomes
one of the serious problems which we are facing now.
